A Memorial To George Floyd

George Floyd Memorial Mural

I had the privilege of visiting the George Floyd memorial mural at Mauerpark in Berlin last week. It was created by an Afro-Carribbean artist called Eme Freethinker.

I thought that it was significant that the mural was created on a part of the former Berlin Wall that separated the East from the West and was in itself a symbol of oppression and lack of freedom. A poignant reminder that there is still so much change to be seen and so much to keep fighting for.

I felt a sense of awe just standing there and looking at Floyd and the other great leaders who fought against racism. It’s sobering when you realize the struggle and sacrifice that has happened in the fight against discrimination all over the world.

May we never stop fighting!
